Default Time to upgrade any advice ??

evening all,

I currently have a eurovox vmax 2008 running with 37 cdf in Manchester which I have had no problems with for 18 months but I now want to upgrade.

One option would be to buy a box standard dvdrecorder with HDD and upscaling but will that give me the same quality as a hd receiver.

Is there anything out there that will -:

1. record live tv.
2. record tv and watch another channel
3. receive HD on vermin ( hdmi output )
4. enable the quick transfer from stuff recorded on the HDD to DVD

I've read many reviews on the ex.... pvr series but will any do all of the above.

Not stating the obvious I could run both boxes and watch one and record on the other but with the aquisition of a large AV receiver the missus is getting annoyed with the number of gadgets in the cabinet and the vast array of remotes stuffed down the sofa.

Your help would be most appreciated to stop divource proceedings

1. record live tv.
The ex500 series and ex7000

2. record tv and watch another channel
Not available on eurovox as it only has single tuner

3. receive HD on vermin ( hdmi output )
Ex7000HD (not as many hd channels available on cable as sky yet but more are promised soon)

not sure, the files are stored in .trp format and I would assume somewhere there is a converter but not sure how the quality pans out.
