Default Dell Lat D600

I got a second hand dell latitude D600, however it seems to have some sort of bios lock on it (i think) it pops up with a grey and black screen saying that the computer has been locked, gives the network ID of the laptop and then asks for an admin password, you get 3 tries at this and then it switches off the laptop,

I have tried to remove the BIOS battery and this doesn't do anything, have had a read online about it being some kind of hard drive lock?

I was told to download an ISO and boot into it to change the dell service tag on the machine, however I can't boot from CD as it asks for the password again lol

Any ideas guys?

You should remove the CMos battey for a couple of minutes and the setting should clear, if not remove the same battery again and boot up the laptop when it finish booting up turn it off pop the battery back in go ito BIOS set the time/date and on you go m8.

fixed it, aparently the bios password is saved in an eeprom chip on the motherboard, which can be erased by shorting it out, worked a treat!

second up from the bottom of the chip on either site of the eeprom, if you cross them with like a paper clip or somthing and then boot the laptop up if you get it right should go into a black screen saying manufacter mode and asks you to press fn + x to continue

Edit - If you remove the PCMCIA card reader there will be a black bit of tape under neath if you pull this off the eeprom can be found underneath (incase you didn't already know)
