Unhappy Please help with multiroom setup

My dad is terminally ill ( sorry to depress) and has not long left. He is in his room upstairs and cant leave it. I decided to get multiroom so he could enjoy sky. He has sky plus downstairs. I rang sky and they registered me for an extra box then told me it would take up to three months for box fitting etc !!!! I then looked into it. He has a quad LCB already so i ran another wire to his room and plugged his old standard sky box into it. I put the card out of the sky plus box in it and he only has the first 45 channels 101 - 145 or so. No sports etc. I have ordered another card but it will take 3-5 days and we dont have much time. I tried my card from home - standard sky not plus. same result. I have not connected phone line upstairs Important ? Or do i just need to wait for new card. please please help thanks.

Its not the card - the software is out of date on the old box.

Do a forced upgrade - if you dont exactly the same will happen when you get the new card.

You will need to connect the phone line to both boxes when the multiroom card arrives - if you dont you will be charged for 2 full subscriptions after a couple of warnings.

Switch off the receiver at the mains wall socket. Press and hold the front panel "backup" button and switch the mains power back on. Continue to hold the button for 20 seconds or until the LEDs all light (depends on the make/model). As soon as this happens, you'll see a message on the screen (only if you have connected via the TV Scart). Leave the receiver for at least 15 minutes to download the software via satellite.

If therers no backup button then use the left right arrows on the front panel instead

Dont be surprised if it doesnt work first time - the update streams are not carried continuously for all makes of box. It might take a few tries over a couple of weeks!
