i get the error on the bottom left of the screen saying some thin like black cat jtag not detected

done the screen dumps mate

well i'd say looking at that its original firmware. maybe some other members could comment and confirm.

so, i think that perhaps its still subbed to the place where it works.

think you might have a blackcat cable for another modem.

i was thinkin that about the fw iv seen it b4 on a modem a few years ago.

open it up and trace all the wires, checking against the diagrams
and check the 10 pin header connections on the modem, make sure theres no slivers of solder or solder blobs ect.

also if you can use another pc, try it on a mates pc or if you have another one of your own
its gotta be a connection problem or it could be a setting in the bios
parallel port connection epp/ecc or somthing similar to that, could try changing those
