Mate has just brought laptop in, forgot user password, any program's or ideas etc

Ah so we are supposed to be mind readers are we?? No-one can possibly make a sensible suggestion towards helping you without some basic info.

WHICH password??

BIOS - log in etc

Hp g7000 laptop
op systen vista basic
changed bios to boot from disc which i had this ( Offline NT pw & reg-editor, bootdisk ) installed, went to end and failed

Well I dunno about the others but I still dont know which password you have changed! Ive never even heard of the rubbishy old bit of ancient software that you refer to, and Im certainly not reading through all the guff that on the site

WHY were you using softwrae that dates back to 1997 on a Vista machine??

From what i read is it the windows log in screen password that you have forgotten, There is a few things you can try. Some computers have an administrator user installed on them. Try and log in as " administrator" with no password. If that lets you in you can simply just removed the password via users in control pannel. If not boot into safe mode and then start the comp that way, you might be able to get into the system that way, if noy then again try the user administrator.

That works on XP, not on Visata - the back door has been closed.

Have you tried removing the CMos battery m8?
There is a S/W called "passwware.kit.enterprise" it's suppose to be good for this type of situations.

Use the software called 'Windows Software Cracker' to change your password.
