Eurovox getting started help!

Hi to everyone. I've been reading through this website and I am ready to do the Eurovox 'method'.

Background: I have Virgin Media subscription (broadband/tv/landline).

What I know: I need a eurovox and null cable, I have found this one which comes with cable and I am ready to purchase a eurovox.

I then need to connect this to a pc/laptop with a 9 pin port. I don't have this on my laptop but my PC is old, I think that may have it. I then need to install the firmware (I haven't found where to get the latest version for the Eurovox Max EX1000 SL? Then I need to connect the cable feed into the box. Then I need some regional codes to scan or something? Then every six months I need to update the software by connecting to my pc again?

What I Need Help On:

1. My broadband runs through a cable modem, I heard this will cause problems with Eurovox? I already have a splitter installed by VM which connects the broadband and tv subscription to the cable feed.

2. I am in East London, which region codes will I need?

3. Is buying from skywonder.co.uk safe?

4. I heard to download the firmware there is a private thread? How do I access it for the Eurovox Max EX1000 SL version?

5. Will I get all the channels? Sky Sports 1/2/3?

My posts haven't been useless. I have commented on whatever interests me in these forums. If you don't have anything constructive to say, then go away.

I was actually told by an admin to start this thread if I was still needing help with Eurovox. I haven't asked the obvious questions, I asked the more hard to understand ones.

Ans 1- just buy a three way splitter and bostter it should work fine.


Ans 2- you need to have freqyeny and symbol rate for your area, this can be found anywhere, just do a search, if you still don't find it contact us we will help you.

Ans 3- i say you should buy from lincsat or waqasahmed or dvbjunkieuk, all sells only orginal. if you want to go for waqasahmed you have to email him. never bought from skywonder.co.uk so don't know, but most of the people on this forums would say buy from either of the three i mentiosned.

Ans 4- the download section is called private_fta. you can the software in this.

Ans 5- yes you will be able to get all the chanels that virgin provides.

Yes I did make 10 posts so I could post a link, but I only posted on threads I took an interest in and make what I thought were decent points. I certainly didn't intend to make useless posts. Anyway, I guess this is stretching it a bit...maybe...
