I have a 40GB 2.5" SATA hard drive which I would to format to FATX in order to use it in my XBox 360. I know I will only get 20GB (using a 20GB hddss.bin file) out of this but i'm not bothered about that I just want a hard drive in my XBox 360. Could someone tell me how to do this please?
Thanks. |

I looked into this a while back aparently the only thing that will format to fatx is your xbox 360 and in order to get the 360 to read the drive its got to have the correct hddss.bin file as far as im aware you can only force the bin file onto a certain brand of western digital drives (unless someone out there as made a new app.)
I tried for ages to get a fijusti hard drive (identical to the 20gb one m$ use) to work I even tried using a hex editor and manualy adding in that bin file into the drives sectors but still wouldnt work. This was aboiut 6 months ago now so there could be a new app out there for it now I would have a look on XboxHacker BBS - Index |

Ok mate, thanks. I was going to get a 120GB Western Digital BEVS drive but I was going to try with this first seeing as though it is sitting around doing nothing

you need the hddhackr tool and a firmware dump of a 120gb 360 hdd both of which are around on the torrents. i havent done it myself but as far as i know they have only done it on 20gb and 120gb drives so your 40gb wont do it unless its compatible with the firmware but even then you would loose 20 gb.

I'm not bothered about losing 20GB, I just want a HDD in my XBox 360 so that I can improve my chances of selling it. If needs be, I will order the Western Digital BEVS 120GB drive and use that.

Is their a way I can put the original Fujitsu 120GB HDD into my console? It's the one I have in my PS3 at the moment, I have already backed up my saves so I can format it.

I tried this i bought an identical fujistu drive for my 360 it doesnt work, the only tool out there is the hard drive hacker tool which will only work on BEVS drives, but it actually works out about the same to just buy a 360 hard drive think I paid like 50 - 60 quid for 120gb
