Default TT1501-c problem.

Hi, i'm new but hopefully someone can help ?

I bought a 1501c to eventually integrate into mediaportal but am having some problems with it.

I've fitted the card and installed the software but when i run either tt viewer or progdvb it says no signal. I've tried different transponder files as well as just scaning my 'frequency - 6952' but no channels are found.

I know the signal to be fine as i already have a cable reciever which works fine.

I assume i'm right that i dont need vplug or the like to recieve FTA channels ? But surely i should see somesort of signal strenght ?

I've tried this on the two pc's i have. One runs vista and the other xp 64bit. With no joy.

Looking at device manager the card appears to have installed correctly.

My question is, am i doing something obviously wrong ? Is there as 'service' that runs to start the card ? Can the service be seen when you run services.msc ?

Or does it sound like the card is faulty ?

As for the physical connection i've had to put a ftype converter on as it has a normal satellite style connecter as std on the cable feed but tt1501 has a 'coax/tv' style connecter on the card ?

Has anyone any ideas before i bin it or send it back ???

Thanks

I couldn't get the latest ProgDVB to work when I tried it with a C1501. I admit this was a while ago, but in the end I used the older ProgDVB that is in the download section, and that worked fine using the same transponder list and setup as I was trying on the latest version.

Also, might be worth trying DVBDream as I found that the easiest program to get up and runnning before I moved to hardcam. Latest version on that (1.4i) worked perfectly. Afraid I never tried TT Viewer, so can't help on that one.

There's no special service or anything that needs running, you should just need to install the BDA drivers for the C1501, then your viewer software, a correctly formatted transponder list for that software and you'll be viewing FTA channels straight away. From there it's a short faff to get vplug working and you'll have all of them.

Good luck dude, honestly sounds like you're almost there.

P.S. Welcome to the forum.

Sorry, should've said. Have a look in the "Private FTA" forum in the sticky called "Some Download Links".

Right i've had another go at this and i can only assume theres something wrong with the tuner in my 1501.

I've just done a clean xp install.
Installed dvb dream.
Copied the modifed 6952 5000.ini into the transponders directory.
Selected dvb-c europe and done a scan.

It scans 181 'lots' of frequencies and i recieve 0 Video or Audio channels.
So no signal.

The feed itself is out of a known working linux based reciever with a f type plug on the end. I'm 100% sure the feed is fine and the signal is ok.

It may also be worth mentioning that i have tried this on three different machines vista,xp 64bit and now xp 32bit. Still with no joy.

I guess if no one can help i'll have to send it back to DVBSHOP.

Thanks

Hi Evo,

Couple of suggestions for you to try and isolate the problem

1) You mentioned you're using an ftype convertor - are you happy this isn't faulty? Do you have a another you can try out?

2) As Stu says try DVBDream before going through the pain of sending it back - shouldn't take too long. If there is a problem with card it I think it should show up in the logs that DVBDream creates. eg. C:\dvbdream\Devices\bda.log. (depending on your install directory)

3) Is the symbol rate for your area definitely 6952?

Cheers

I have a DB 500c and put simply if i unplug the coax from the 1501 and plug it into the 500c i get a tv picture. I'm 100% its 6952 but i've tried scanning for 6887 as well with no joy.

I'll check to see if theres a log and if it can give me any more info.

When i do a scan in dvb dream with coax connected it says no channels found with it disconnected it says the same.

The card itself is ok, found by windows, driver appears to be installed ok.

Its as if i'm scanning the wrong thing or the tuners not working !

All this to get tv working in mediaportal !!!!!!!

Is there a bruteforce file for dvb dream ?

In dvbdream you overwrite the 5000.ini, open your transponder file with an editor (say WordPad, word etc) select all the text (Ctrl +A) then copy this to clipboard (Ctrl +C). Then navigate to the 5000.ini file in dvbdream, my computer/C or whatever letter your hard disk is/dvbdream/transponders/5000.ini. delete all the text there so (Ctrl +A) then delete at the keyboard. Then (Ctrl +V) to paste the text from the clipboard then save the file, file/save as/5000.ini, then try a scan!!!
