Hi Lucus, Before you start thinking about replacing parts, It is worth checking your memory slots and make sure they have not come lose. this can cause the same prob you describe.
Also check the Hard drive is firmly seated. Try starting with battery removed and mains power on. Good Luck Ebe |

How old is the notebook? Is it still under warranty?
Are you getting any warning beeps? Is there any sign of life at all, when you switch it on, does it sound like it's performing the memory check? Try removing all the memory and switch on the laptop, just to see if you get a warning beep. |

hi
its quite old i only use it because its got a serial port which i need for libby e.t.c, wont have any waranty left, theres no beeps but when turned on it does make a sound but its more of a component sound, i reakon its coming from the floppy disk drive, but the laptop doesnt even attempt to boot i cant even upen the dvd drive when its turned on its almost like its in standby mode but not if you know what i mean. regards |

Sounds like the power isn't getting through, if it was stuck during the memory cycle then removing the memory should get some reaction.
If it was a PC I'd replace the PSU, (Power Supply Unit), but as I'm not conversant with laptops/notebooks, I'd check for a technical layout and see what kind of power distribution is used, and how easy it is to replace. |
