Motorised Help
Can anyone tell me why I can't get any sats west of Sirius 5e. Got TM 1500CI+, Superjack ll and 90cm dish on Jaeger H-H mounted above eaves on east side of house. Line of sight OK no obstructions I have all sats east, all above 75% some 95% and they all located easily. I'm at aloss on this as my anologue receiver went as far as Hispasat. Thanks in advance.

The only thing that I can think of a the pole its mounted on is not vertical. If its not straight then it will be out on its arc, could of moved.
Check to see its vertical in all directions and go from there. |

Thanks Realist will climb up the ladder and check as soon as weather gets better (too cold). I think old analogue setup may have fooled me as I did not check dish alignment for vertical EWNS (it looks straighthttp://www.tech-tronix.com/images/smilies/ermm.gif

When searching for satellites make sure you are looking for an active transponder on the satellite, there are good lists on satco-dx and lyngsat
If you gat a good signal on Sirius, you should get something on 1w, it's not that far away. |

Thanks guys for the input but I'm still stumped. I have 12 sats east from Sirius 5e to Europstar 45e so I think must be tracking arc OK. Dish is approx 7mtrs from ground level and appears to have good line of sight unless arc falls off dramatically in the West Midlands.

Thanks lincsat and Realist for advice, finally had chance to get up the ladder and the pole was not quite true. Managed to get it almost perfect (the pole is slightly bent) and now I can get the arc and 24 sats east to west. Signal strength dropped on a few east sats and some channels have blocking, but I get important ones OK. Just shows the mounting pole has to be true vertical or your not going to get far. Thanks again for your advice.

Yep, if the pole is NOT 100% vertical and solid in construction (not to sway in wind) then you will have trouble with the arc and getting some satellites.
Glad its working M8. Laters |
