About to flash an ambit 255 can you please tell me if my set up is ok pictures attach

Ok so i am about to flash an ambit 255 i have all the programs and all the equipment i hope.


have read the guide several times so know what to do.


heres the pictures of my set up

also i noticed that where you plug in the ambit cable on modem there are 5 pins on the ambit 255 modem i have, but on the cable it only has 4 pins.

is that ok.


i have tried connecting the whole lot to laptop but the little red light on the max 232 board didnt light up.

i have installed drivers for my usb to serial cable.

just want to know if i have done anything wrong.

Okay ive attached a picture for you on how to connect the max if that dont work try it from the enthernet port always 1 pin will not be used mate

i tried connecting 4 pins and powered up modem had ethernet cable connected and usb to laptop etc. drivers installed.


the light wouldnt come on the little max 232 board to say its working.

i then went to console unlocker and clicked exploit but it didnt work and how do i know what com port it is using.


have i done something wrong. thanks

u need to use com port, max232 to standard serial to pc's comport, no usb or converters I beleive.

besides i find using pc is much betta than a laptop.

forgot to mention, 4 pin headers is ok but when connecting on to the modem start the pin closest to the ethernet.

ok did what you said,

just tried it again had it all plugged in and setup.

but on the max 232 little board the red light doesnt come on to say its powered up if you get what im talking about.

then i go to device manager and check which port is currently in use and it goes port 23

then i go to console unlocker and put port 23 and click exploit and it goes invalid port number.


im gonna try on pc but i heard it does work on laptop using this method.

On my PC the USB to Serial Driver creates COM3,the real serial port is always COM1,but it may well be different on your PC especially if you havent got a real serial port on the back of your PC.

USB Converters are indeed OK.

I flashed an ambit 255 last night using one on a pals laptop.

You want to be using the 4 pins nearest to the rear of the modem, I don't know what you colours are but my one has the yellow cable nearest the rear of the modem.

However, if you do connect it the wrong way around, you should get some output in Putty, though it will be just a garbled mess.

i cant get light to come on the max 232 to say its being powered if you get what i mean, theres like a red bulb that should come on, but it doesnt. i just went to console unlocker and clicked exploit will no success. i must be connecting it wrong i take it.
