Default Twinhan 2301 woes :(

Hey guys, my TwinHan PCI card came through the post today and I was very excited on setting the whole thing up. I installed the card into the PCI slot and installed the crappy drivers from the cd in order to check if I can get channels using Twinhans software.

Everything set up, set up the scan (ex C&W, symbol rate 6952, 100-800 frequency range, QAM64). The scan takes around 10 minutes but I get no channels. Using the drivers the card is not recognised by dvbdream or progDVB.

So I uninstalled the twinhan drivers and downloaded the BDA drivers from their website (first one under 'others'). It installed and recognised 2 devices, DVB-TV 878 Capture driver and DVB-TV 878 Tuner Driver. However with this driver the TwinHanTV software does not detect the card.

The card is recognised in progDVB however no signal strength / status is shown. I select to do a blind search using the same settings as above, takes around 15 minutes to scan however I do not recieve any channels. Could it be that my card is faulty or the drivers? My connections are fine as I have a modem running from it and also tested other connections (dbox and pace box). Im currently running Vista Ultimate SP2.

Thanks,

soviet

In DVBDream what's in your BDA.log? eg. C:\dvbdream\Devices\bda.log. (depending on your install directory)
Might give some clue as to what the problem is

In DVBDream: options>device>bda native>start, also see TT1501-c problem. for scanning.

Thanks willin, yeah I read that post before I posted and it appears that the symptoms are the same. Tried it on a vista machine, no signal so tried it on a fresh xp install and still the same thing.

The feed is fine, but as with evolammy it scans 181 frequencies in like 2 seconds and comes up with no channels.

Pheww, not sure, with vista try uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers -start>right click on computer>properties>device manager>choose the device>right cick>properties>driver tab>uninstall (put a tic in the box delete driver software)>ok. start>control panel>system>advanced system settings>hardware>windows update driver settings>adjust to suit>ok then reboot and try.

Edit: It's not 64 bit is it?

Got it all sorted! I think your right willin when you mentioned this card and vista/xp. It may be a hit and miss but using vista I didnt get any signals. Under xp, I used the dvbdream transponder file in the downloads section to do a scan, and it picked up the channels. I get FTA now, so now need to sort out vplug. Thanks for all your help guys,

Think you were initially scanning with the wrong frequencies - its important you start on the exact frequency as all further frequencies are dervied from that.

For TW, start at 99Mhz. If you start at 100Mhz then it will scan 100, 108, 116, 124 etc, which is wrong. You really need it to scan 99, 107, 115, 123 etc.
