Ive got a late laguna comming in later this week to replace the rear brake pads and discs and i was just wondering if the calipers wind back clockwise on both sides or anticlockwise as ive been told this maybe the case. I havethe tool to wind clockwise but not anticlockwise and ill have to go get 1 if needed. Anyone throw some light on this please??

I think form memory one side winds one way and the other side winds the other (although I cant be sure). I rarely use a windback tool - I have a screwdrever with a square shaft that I cut the end off and ground down to fit in the cutout. It requires pressure on the piston to push it back and wind it one way then the other and see which way winds it back in.

yeah sure one is clockwise and the other anti, sorry cant remember which way round but that dont take much working out
same as delambo said you can do it without the tool easy enough, but you can get the tool for about £70 now so may aswell spend some of that cash you got stashed away

Or you could sell them a pair of calipers aswell, then you wont need to wind the pistons back
LOL

Did the car today. N/S was clockwise and when i looked at the other side it was siezed solid as the rubber boot cover on the piston had torn and come off.
Couldnt get a aftermarket 1 and it was 3 days to referb the old 1 but no price to do it as they are apprently too new. Customer wanted car on road asap so it was main dealer at £255 for the caliper....... cheeerrr chinggggg And after all that i still dont know which way the O/S turns cos i just fitted it and put the car back together LOL |
