Your best bet is eBay You shall need the latest firmware if its a Max V, but you said its already been flashed so you dont need to do the updating yourself

Kind of. If you download keymaster you can still enter keys when they roll, but sometimes these are out of date. Of course, you only need to enter keys when waiting for new firmware to come out when VM "hit the boxes" So yes, files are released when VM hit the receivers

Its not a must that you flash the receiver, however sometimes the keys can be days out of date, making them useless. It can also be of inconvenience if you get a "code being updated" message whilst watching your favourite show
