Default Ambit 255 connecting to laptop usb to serial max 232 problems console unlocker errors

Ok so i have read the guide on how to flash ambit 250/255 many times now.

i have all the programs and equipment i need to flash modem.

Im using a laptop to connect my ambit modem to.

i have a usb to serial cable and the max 232 adapter and cable, and the ethernet cable and power supply.

when i connect modem to laptop by serial i wanted to see what com port is being used by the modem.

so i went to device manager and when to com ports and it says com port 23 is being used by the modem usb to serial.

so i take it com port 23 is what i need to use for console unlocker and putty.

i have done this below

1. Apply serial and Ethernet connection between your PC and the modem
2. Set your PC IP parameters to:
IP: 192.168.100.10
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.100.1

i then have everything connected and modem powered on, the max 232 adapter has the red light on to say its connected correctly.

i run the console unlocker and put com port to 23 and leave inject delay on 2.

waited ten seconds then clicked exploit

it goes please wait

then the following message appears

error dropping the exploit please reset the device and re run application

then have tried rebooting modem connecting to putty

so i put serial and com port 23

speed 115200

data bits 8

stop bits 1

parity none

flow control none

i have everything connected to modem and laptop except i dont have power supply connected to modem.

i then click open

and the a black window opens saying com port 23

and a little green cursor flashing

then i power on modem and wait to see if anything comes up

and nothing comes up even after pressing enter.

so i take it modem is not communicating with laptop and something somewhere is not right.

anyone can you suggest what i should try.

many thanks

Sure, a simple one for you.

Enter device manager as before but select the 'device' from the list that represents your serial-to-usb adapter, in the properties for the device there will be an option to change the com port it uses, set this to com1 (if your laptop has none this will be fine, i assume, since the use of the adapter, you don't have one so will be ok)

Save and exit the properties and now check to see the adapter is now using com1, if it is, try running console unlocker etc again, all should work now.

I had this issue using a PCI rs232 card, it set the com port to 23 as default, just as yours did, i couldn't get anything to work, nagraedit, console unlocker, you name it, nothing worked. changed it to use com 1 from the device properties and has worked flawlessly with no issues since.

Good luck Let me know how you get on

yea that did solve problem i got so far to nearly flashing.

i got past console unlocker, then used soft jtag program write boot loader to 2.1.6 d

then went putty done the settings clicked open rebooted modem clicked p

done everything

got to the bit where it asks for file name put haxorware11rev32.bin

then after it goes tftp timeout

i had the solar winds running with that file in the tftp root folder

then had to start all over again redone bootloader then this time it found haxowarerev32.bin

and then forget to say yes to save parameters so it didnt work.

im getting frustfrated tried for like 3 or more hours and somehow i get so far then i have to start again.
