Question INFO needed...

Hi everyone, im going to be moving next week to an area which accept v**gin. If im right, its possible to buy a starview box and then just to sign up to the most basic package and then use the starview box to get ALL channels e.g. s*y sport and movies etc.
Is what im saying right?
Also is there software that i have to upload onto the starview box to be able to open the channels?? if so, how do i do this and where do i get it from? And how many times a week does this need to be done?

Sorry to everyone, but i just dont really know where to begin or what to do.

Thanks for all help in advance

so long as you dont live in eire, go for it . get basic package from vermin. then get whatever box you prefer. i use sv's but others are available. all info about software is in the stickies. but suggest you try dvbjunkieuk.co.uk for a starview. will save time!!! also have a look in eurovox section, under "frequently asked questions" its like a bible.....most of the info relates to most cable boxes.... once firmware is on, no need to do anything afterwards, not usually anyway.

had a look at dvbjunkie.com and it was £79.99 for a sv4, is this the cheapest possible i can get and also will it have firmware and everything on it?
also looked at eurovox section and just wanted to know, if i just had BROADBAND and TELEPHONE inc.line rental from vermin, could i use sv4 to get all the channels or do i need the basic TV package as well??
also is starview the best for this kind of thing? what does a eurovox do that a sv4 cant, and vice versa?

thanks for the help by the way

dvbjunkie "may have" firmware installed, hence why i said it may save time. dont think you will get a better price... Would use them. you dont need a tv package but would recommend it to keep vermin happy. not a big price to pay! plus you get a spare freeview box if your s/view gets bricked. as to the difference between the 2, i've never had a eurovox so cant comment, but sfaik, they all do the same. both can record onto a usb stick etc. but never needed to myself.
all i can say is if and when i need a new box, i willget another s/view...

okay, well on the dvbjunkie site it clearly stated it would be posted with latest firmware. and i dunno whether to get the tv package or not, if its no use then whats the point in paying extra money?!?
also, i saw one on fleabay which was £80 + 12p&p, contacted the guy who called me and explained to me everything and would put the latest firmware on it, and said when i get it i could call and get help off him sorting it and everything, so im thinking should i just buy from him and pay extra becuase then ill have somene to call with any queries n etc?
and yeh sv seems cheaper and if they do practically the same thing then always better isnt it.

Yeh the site is down for me too mate, I just went on it yesterday and visit it now and then and it's usually up working fine.

Try again tomorrow or something mate, they have a shop which is actually closed on Sundays so when they are back at work tomorrow you they may sort their site out then. They don't really load the firmware and stuff for you though, for legal reasons, that's why I prefer going their in person, so you can ask them about the info face to face. They are located in Hinckley in Leicestershire if you're close by.

If it is live then you shouldn't need any package mate, just connect your boxes/modems and you're away.
