Default MAC Address Conflict ?

So this is abit of wierd one so bare with me..

I got my modem last monday all was great till saturday evening, around 7.30pm i switched off my PC and reboot the modem so i could play xbox live with friends. So when tried to connect to live it wouldnt let me, so i done a network test and it came back with cant obtain ip please reboot modem for 30 seconds, so i did and it still wouldnt work.. I must have done this several times with no luck..

So moving back to my PC it was still not connecting to the net, on my task bar my network connection would show and it would say aquiring network address and this would do this every 5 to 10 seconds..

So all weekend this done this and today its working fine..

But a friend said it might be a mac conflict any ideas ?

I have no idea what firmware i'm using my modem is a webstar 2100

All my lights were still on.. The PC light on my modem usually flashes pretty fast, but when i had problems it usually stayed solid green or slowly flashed..

But if you get cut off dont you get limited connectivity box pop up ?

As for areas, my area was fine, my brother is the same area and he was fine..

I dont know how to put in new mac codes or know where to get them, if you could tell me via pm that would be great..
