hopefully some kind soul can point me in the right direction here
recently upgraded from vista mce with tv pack to 7mce im using a floppy dtv with the latest FW and win 7 drivers the problem iv got is it seems that mce is not scanning a couple of transponders in my transponder file and thus not finding the channels on the said transponders i have a kryptview upstairs so was easily able to identify what transponder the channel/s are on and the double checking my reg file shows i have them all present and correct this is the same reg file used in vistam mce with tv pack which worked without problem im running the x86 version if it makes any difference cheers guys |

I found that too - my setup (W7) lost several transponders too compared to my old Vista setup. I solved it last night (finally!), it looks like W7 is clever and only scans DVB-T transponders in use in your area. If you're using Freeview that's great as your scans are much quicker. For us using fake DVB-T that's a pain in the posterior!
My solution was to find the transponders it wasn't scanning and move them onto other parts of the list that were being scanned. To find the missing transponders, I did a search in FireDTV and noted which channel groups weren't showing up in VMC. Once located, I removed these frequencies from their current position and move them to empty slots that were scanned. To find these, I looked at the channels I've got Freeview on in the house and checked if their frequencies in the registry were in use - if they weren't then I stuck one of the skipped DVB-C frequencies in it. After a few moves, that got them all back. I ended up with this for my area and it's finally picking up all the channels again (rename the .txt to .reg). Maybe it'll help someone?

Try switching to BDA drivers and doing a full cable scan in FireDTV Viewer. That way you'll know if it's a signal problem or a transponder list problem, as well as giving you the chance to make a list of frequencies you'll need in your registry list for the fake DVB-T drivers. Then it should just be a case of getting them into frequencies Media Centre is actually going to scan.
Took me all weekend to get sorted as each scan just takes so long to try!

well still have no luck with this ive even tried a full transponder list with just one of the transponders i know that is not scaning and still nothing
i really cant see it being a signal problem because its only happened with the upgrade to win 7 and surely if i had a weak signal to the point that fire viewer & mce couldnt get it then my kryptview box upstairs would have problems but it doesnt and shows 85% ive tried the usual direct feed onlt to htpc disconnecting all splitters and modem but nada it not playing |

right ive found the problem and hope there is a solution but not sure if they will be unfortunately
ive just done a rescan with the firedtv viewer and gone through every single channel (took 2 hours) and i have found the missing channels they have scanned in as service channels so i think this may be the reason why 7mce is not scaning them in but again i have no clue how to sort this it has gott to be a driver issue surely beause of them scanning in as service channels on firedtv viewer and im using the latest beta drivers for win7 Last edited by reeves2k2; 09-09-09 at 12:24 AM. |

Ever since I started playing with W7, about half of my channels show up under FireDTV Viewer as "Service" ones but I've finally been able to get them all showing in Media Centre. That same thought occurred to me Friday night so I know exactly where you're coming from. Think you're right that this is a flaw between Viewer and driver.
Believe me, stick with moving the frequencies around the list in the registry and it WILL end up scanning them when you hit the right spots. I got a lucky short cut as I stuck a DVB-T tuner in mine this week, so I was able to check the sources in the guide for my Freeview channels and that gave me the final frequencies I needed to use. If you haven't got a DVB-T tuner then I can't see any way other than trial and error - which is a major pain in the arse but I really cannot see another way. Sorry. Wish I could help but unless you fancy moving to Kent there's not much I can do to find the DVB-T frequencies in your area (I spent some time googling this afternoon to try to find them for each region for you, but no luck sadly).
