Default Help in the Teesside with dbox kein system issue

Guys, anybody in the north east who can help me with Kein problem, obviously some image issue.

I've had a Starview thats worked fine and my mate decided he'd ignore this fact and buy the dbox, anyway in trying to set it up he's ended up doing something wrong and has asked me to take a look.

Anyway after 2 days a fiddling with no joy I wondered if theres a local kein issue expert who can kindly help me on my way before I beat my mate to a pulp with the damn box.

You need to reflash an image to the box using the IFA software , a null modem cable and a ethernet cable ( cross-over ). Doing that will bring the box back to life

Yeah I did try that and wasn't having any joy, thought and am hoping its just something I'm doing wrong, I read these are pretty bulletproof.

Hoping I can make some progress before Friday otherwise I'll be getting earache about it over the Friday night pint.

Have you disabled all your internet security and firewalls before using IFA , I have to unistall my ESET as it won't disable when using IFA.

I have indeed fella, which is why Im stumped theres no action, also tried it on 2 vista and 1 xp build to make sure it wasnt a pc issue, serial cables fine because I've used that 10 minutes ago for something else, probably should double check the cross over cable.

Hi

Might seem like a daft question but are you installing the right image for the box ie 1x or 2x and do you know how to check for this?
could be you are doing all correct but putting wrong type on

you can do this without removing the cover just by looking through the slots in the top with a small torch its simple you just need to check how many flash chips the box has

Guys thanks for the info so far, I've tried it both wired with cross over and null, and also the wireless way and still no joy.

One element I notice where what I get is different to the guides and video is where in the vids you see the nice graphical interace with the green bar going across I don't get that, at the point where it says "The pc will now be prepared for the flashing process I get the attached screen popping up.
