Hi all, i currently subscribe to sly's minimum package purely so the wife can record home & away and holyoaks lol!

How does the EX5000 or its HD version compare with sly+ for recording purposes? How far in advance can you record? how many channels at once?

Eurovox boxes only have one tuner as far as I am aware and you need to use an external HDD to record. If you want a decent cable PVR box, go for the V+, the one I have has a 160GB HDD and 3 tuners so you can record two programs and watch a third at the same time. Make sure that the card is paired on it though or you won't be able to mod it.
