Default Risks when using Star View

Hi,
Apologies for the newbie post.
I am thinking of getting a Box Super (star view 3) however i am just wondering about the risks of getting caught when using them with the illegal software which allows you to pick up cable channels for free.

i am aware that pubs use the boxes to show live coverage of premier league football matches, and are likely to face a £1000 fine if they are caught, however are there ways in which you can get caught when using the box at home?

I understand that you need virgin media to receive the channels, so is there any way of getting caught through them?

Also whats the reliability with the boxes? Do they often drop signal or fail to receive certain channels?

Thanks in advance for any advice given

Dan

If you use one at home the chances of you getting caught are very minimal indeed. I read that the boxes are merely receivers and do not transmit any type of info back to VM. All you need is a live feed from them to be able to set one of these up. So as long as you are subscribed to their phone, or broadband (or both) you can set one of these up.

Obviously at times there will be a little bit of hassle involved but I think it is deffo worth it considering how much money you save. You have all the help you need right here anyway, all you need is abit of initiative and patience and you'll be good to go mate.

I wasn't aware pubs use them btw that is hilarious.

know what you mean, but they might only be paying for "home" stuff. sly costs a lot of money, which is why lots of pubs get foreign sat dishes. but still would like to know if vermin allow pubs/club to have public viewing. not seen it in s/manchester..

I know of one or two Pubs in Nottinghamshire running VM, but afaik, its not a case of being allowed or not allowed to broadcast VM, but instead decided at VMs discretion - reason being, I also know of several pubs in Nottingham who were instead denied a subscription to VM, unlike the others which I have seen who do indeed have permission to use/broadcast VM.

The costing is rather different though, although I am unaware of the total monthly subscription, I have been told its a wee bit more than your standard home subscription.

as i said, not sure about vermin rules/prices etc for pubs but sly prices are "sky" high for pubs, which is why lots get other dishes. probably cheaper than the fine.....
