Yea, adjust the settings on your TV, as its the TV producing the black border when it receives the 4:3 aspect signal .. It probably looks grey if your brightness is up too high, and contrast too low ..

The bars are grey with the ex5000 and black with the ex7000 on the same tv. So I want to know if theres a way to change it so that the ex5000 has black borders too as its far better than grey. Maybe through the firmware or something?

Just hav a boogie down to B&Q and get a 2inch paint brush and a couple a tins a gloss paint, then just paint the grey borders on yer tv screen to any colour you like. Jam. ps hit me thanks button for this brilliant tip. Get a bottle of turps as well cos if yer don't like the colour then just clean it with some turps and then try a diffo colour until yer happy!!!

that would make every channel 4:3 which I don't want. thanks for the idea anyway
Ok then I just come up with a better idea instead of painting yer tv with paint on the borders. Get some cardboard and make some strips to fit on the borders and then make a few different coloured ones up, you could do something like red borders for watching cartoons, green borders for sport, blue for movies etc. and just sellotape em to yer tv and then yer can change them with diffo cardboard strips when yer get board with the colours. Jam

Or, RTFM for your TV's display settings, like I mentioned before its your TV creating the Black Borders..
:-) Maybe if you mention what TV you have then maybe somebody might look it up for you, lol .. |
