After a laptop , does not need dvd drive becuase won't be burning anything . Just need one that i can surf the net and get my emails , needs wi - fi on it and thats about it .
Seen the netbooks , is it better to get one of these?? So what's the best option , after spending about £150 on one. |

I have a 700eeepc.It runs linux but dead easy to use.But 7inch screen is a bit small.A 9inch would be better.
So I got a 1000he eeepc. It runs xp but I use a linux distro on it.Ideal for useing outdoors.Battery lasts about 8/8 1/2 hours. Basicly any laptop is good enougth for surfing the web.I think that the most important thing is battery life. In fact I am off to the pub with it now.

I can get hold of Dell Latitude E600 or E610's
Around a year old I think but look like they have never been used, with carry case included £150. Just got my girlfriend and her folks one each and their happy with them only using to surf the net, listen to music etc. I dont know if their good bad or indifferent but they seem to do the trick!

Lo.Macabre.The asus eeepc's are at the £200 marke. But any laptop or netbook is good enough for surffing the web.Have a look on amazon to get an idea,I buy loads there.MSI WIND and ACER ring a bell.£150 will get you one good enough for surffing.
As you say you need wireless, but I think that most are these days. Also battery life is important.I used to bring my old packard bell to the pub but one hour twenty battery life was not enough. At the bar now with my 1000he.3.30 hrs left brill. ![]() If thats a load of nonsence I blame the beer.

Lo,all.
The 700 or 900eeepc are good to use sat in a chair or laid in bed.Batt life 2 1/2 hrs.like holding a book. The 1000he '10 in screen' is brill .But a bit of a handfull laid in bed or chair. But the battery seems to last for ever. The samsung 10.2 inch also gets a good write up. The 700 and 900 come with a version of linux, simple to use pritty safe from viruses.1000he comes with xp but I also have fedora11 on it. I prefer to use linux on the net. Do not get the wrong idea I am not a linux wizkid. If I can do it anyone can.

I have a Dell Inspiron 910 which is only small (8.9" LCD screen) but it is great for surfing the internet and checking e-mails. It also has Wi-Fi built in so you can connect wirelessly to a router or home network.
