I have just recorded an hour and half long hd program to my external hard disk. When I plug the drive into my computer I can see the record folder there are 14 files which include .trp, .ifo, .idx .001 - .011 files. all the files together come to 17.4gb. Could someone please tell me a simple way to convert these files in to one single avi or mpg file so that I can watch the recording on my pc?

ConvertXtoDVD can do this

add trp file with convertxtodvd-this converts & compresses files into DVD5 use a blank 4.7gb DVD

you can then watch your recording on dvd player or pc..

or another way without recoding -download this:

new VLC player plays trp file

freeware any-video-converter.com but am unsure whether it will convert those input files, worth a look

when recording it creates lots of 12 min video files rather than just one trp file . Is it possible to change it so that the whole recording is just one file?

you can do it through windows movie maker, if installed on pc, its a bit of a pain
