Help With Updating Smart Card (I'm New to this, Sorry) - Techwatch Support Forums: Digital & Satellite TV, FTA, Cable, Computers, Mobile Phones, Apple and General Tech Forums

Hi everyone.
I apologise straight away if this sort of question has been answered before on numerous occassions but I'm new to the card updating stuff and need a bit of assistance in getting hold of a Smart Card Reader/Writer and the necesarry software in order to update a smart card for cable tv.

What I need to know firstly is what Smart Card writer I need. I have been looking helplessly for ages not knowing what to look for and have finally come to the conclusion I don't know what I'm looking for and need help.
Is this particular card writer sufficient?
Sim, smart, ATM, SD, MMC & T-flash Card reader / writer on eBay (end time 16-Oct-09 00:10:17 BST) (This link will take you to a reader/writer on eBay, it's coshure I promise)

Secondly, I do already have a Smart Card that is linked to a box that has a code on the front to use with only that box (I forget what the name of that code is but I'm sure you guys know). When I eventually insert this card in to a writer that is compatible, what software do i need to download and use to then update the card?

Honestly if you can help me out with this guys you'll be getting me out of a gaping big hole because I'm totally lost at present.

hi m8 has the card been unlooped? if not u will need a unlooper also u will need a programmer i have a usb infintiy pheonix which u can get off ebay
then u will need to download nagra from the downloads on here mate if u read the tuts they are very good and will help u to write a card

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what unlooped means. Like I said I'm new to this and know nothing so please forgive my ignorance.

All I know is that the card and box worked before the last key roll. other than that I'm unsure about the lot. However, thanks for the help thus far. I'll have a look for the hardware and software on eBay and here

they all on there mate u can get a reader from ebay just type in usb infinty
