Hi,
I have read the Novice Angel Cable Guide and am still a bit confused. I have a Samsung 2110C Box, that has its original card in it. I have 2 Fun 7 Cards (AT90S8515A 2x24C1024) and 1 Fun 6 Card (It says Open Platform on the front and has 6th Generation written on it). I also have a Phoenix Unlimited USB Programmer. After cutting 'talk back' from the box, without an Unlooper - can I just follow one of the tutorials on writing a Fun Card to get the desired effect? My understanding is that having the original card is best, unlooping it and modifying it - making it a 'mosc' card - however using a Fun Card is an alternative for those that don't have the original card for that box. I'm sure I'm not too far from my goal and have read countless threads, I just need more of a push in the right direction. All comments and help will be greatly apprecaited by me ![]() Thanks |

I don't think your programmer will do Funcards mate. The Phoenix part in the name suggests it will only do original cards (ROM10s and ROM11s).

Fist of all do not plug the cable feed with the card in it or you risk the card being hit with the wrong BK.
If the card is unlocked "which very unlikely" you can read it with your card Reader/ Programmer but if it is locked then you will need to unlock it using an unlooper or someone can do that for you, once you get that sorted come back with more questions m8, in the mean time do some searching there are many thread with a lot of info that will help you along the way.

You need the BK and IRD, the ird you get from the engineers menu, now the BK(BoxKey) is a different matter for the 2110 model, the only way to get it is of the original card that was in the box. you need to put your pheonix programmer in pheonix mode, you will see a button on the top of your phoenix software on the right hand side. click on it and select 6.3 or is is 6.8 anyway its 6.something that yo need to click, this will then disappear and you can see it in the tray at the bottom of your screen. Now make sure your ifinity is connect to your pc with the usb, and you will need to connect thr rs232 lead to your comms port and your infinity (nine pin serial lead. Now open Nagra 4.1 and press the button read card (I am sure you have put your card in the reader lol). if you get no atr string, then change the comms port from the tools settings at the top of Nagra.
You should be able to read the card, this will tell you revision of the card. example rom 11 bod, if the card is locked it will say comms failed and close. At this point you will need an ulooper to open the card. The problem being that on the 2110 cards it is not guaranteed that the BK is on there. The CC culd have hit the card and a fake BK could be on the card. Phew get that, that was a quick guide, you have lots more reading to do. |

Can I just add to the above post that you will need to connect your programmer to your PC and select phoenix mode click on 3.68 MHz, then try to read the card through Nagra 4.1 but most probably your card will need unlooping first.

I really appreciate you taking the time to write all that! Gives me something to have a go at when I finish work
I'm almost certain that the card is the original for the box. My Infinity is the USB Unlimited though, it doesn't use serial - is the process still the same?Though I'm confident that the original card is paired with the box, I largely doubt that it'll be unlocked LoL - will have to get me an unlooper at the weekend. If I was to write a Fun Card using my Infinity using the tutorial, would this work rather than using the original card? Thanks in advance, Sim' |

Ahh I see!
I've got a half decent udnerstanding of it all now thanks to you guys ![]() One more thing, no matter how many times I 'write' to a card - if I mess up - I can start again right? They say practise makes perfect, which I agree with - however I don't want it to practise and bankrupt myself :P If this is the case I'll let you guys know how I get on *bounces* |
