Basically, I have a Nokia 5310 here and it wont accept an orange sim, but will accept O2 sims
If I put an orange sim in, it asks for a "restriction code" Is there any way I can unlock these with some firmware and a data cable? Or would it be cheaper to pay someone down town to unlock the mobile?

BTW I dont like those sites where you unlock by entering your IMEI-a lot of the time they dont work. Most people say to use this method(according to google
), but Im not too trusting of that method

You can unlock your Nokia 5310 completely free if you have T-mobile, or possibly 3 network. I just wrote a new guide on it today, check it out:

nokia 5310 are bb5 software and mostly all sl3
in other words cannot be done by these cheap imei code genorators, wich can lock it completely if entere incorect to many times, it will cost about 10 depending on the shop, but if it is sl3 you might have to get it sent away, unless you live near brum or shefield??!!! |

ollie, thats exactly why I dont like those IMEI code generators
The person I was going to unlock it for ran out of patience and went to town and paid £10 which I suppose isnt too bad, especially now reading your post! Also, out of interest for a kit to unlock BB5 stuff, how much should I expect to be set back?EDIT: whats the difference between this kit http://www.mobile2mobile.net/unlock_packs/Nokia.htm and this kit http://www.modifications.co.uk/nokia_unlocking.html at £199.99!?

if you just want something cheap then theres a box called bb5 box, it is a testpoint box wich means opening up the phone and using pogo's to unlock and coz there older you can get them pritty cheap 50-70 squids, but it dont do all the newer phones, i like uni box, updated all the time does sammys aswell (expenive via credits but still) but does n95 5800, e71 in no time bout 2.5 mins if that, and you should pay around 200ish mark, make sure that: BB5SL2 RAPIDO, BB5SL2 and BB5NOTP are installed otherwise youl have to pay for credits to update!! plus your bag of leads ofcourse lol, cheers ollie |
