Default Windows Live Messenger

The new version of MSN Messenger will be Windows Live Messenger, one can still try it (beta version). I've not tried it yet. Is anyone using Live messenger here? Is it better than the previous versions?

I still haven't upgraded my MSN Messenger 7.5 to Windows Live Messenger. I don't use MSN Messenger a lot anyway, so nothing motivates me to try it. I have read about the new features, though, and it looks really good how users of Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger can communicate while maintaining their choice of messenger client.

Isn't this the one you can use to hook up with AIM and Yahoo! Messenger?

That is right, Brian. If you are using Windows Live Messenger, you can send messages--either online or offline--to contacts that use Yahoo Messenger. With AIM, I am not sure.

Can't say I've found a reason to download Windows Live yet but it sounds interesting. I use Yahoo, and am just getting used to all their new features.
Wow, everything comes out at once!

I really don't care for IM becuase I don't like to be interrupted. I do have to use Yahoo for work and all my pals are on MSN, so that works out pretty well if they have merged the two.

I had not seen a lot on this yet. I did not know that they were merging the two. That is a great feature if you ask me. But I am still of the mind that I don't really like trying things when they first come out.

I've tried it once.
Never get chance to use again.
The interface is really attractive.

Well Windows Live Messenger is now the norm for Microsoft IM as it is fairly established...my favourite of its newest features is being able to use the same display pic from another computer...as well as Personal Message...

Yeah definitely...although the roaming picture and personal message support now stops me from being able to tell if someone is really at home or not...
