It can't hurt, also while you have it open you might as well give it a clean and check the cooling fans and vents.
I've got new life out of many an old PC just by cleaning, re-seating components, and some new paste and fans !!!!!! |

had a similar problem with an old desktop pc,
press the caps lock button when it freezes and if the led for caps lock doesn't light up then it's a good chance it's the hdd, had an old maxtor ide drive it kept happening to, i put a small fan above the power input on the hard drive and it cured the problem, so it could be a problem caused by heat but you won't have the fan option using a laptop, try an air duster in the vents of the laptop dust is a bugger for causing heat. matt. |

I have had 2 laptops with the same problem both due to overheating the first I just blew into the fan outlet alot of dust came out and it fixed it. The second one I took the keyboard out and pushed the fan round with a screw driver and fixed it (the fan is still week on the second one though)

Did you run the laptop in safe mode and did it still freeze?
Try disabling some items, the last one I worked on had a faulty wireless card that was causing a problem, identified by turning off the card and using just the cable. Have you got any software to check the hardware, memory, graphics etc.. The problem with laptops is that you can't just change components, unlike with a PC, to find out which part is faulty. |

It looks like a motherboard problem, although it could still be another hardware fault.
Have you got any software that can do a full hardware stress check and narrow down the problem? Also check the manufacturers website, and do an internet search, to see if this problem has happened to anyone else. Have you upgraded the BIOS and other drivers, since getting the laptop? |

Tere was'nt an update for the BIOS but I reflashed it anyway, its been running now for a couple of hours wih the dongle, I have enabled the wifi card and now have both the card and the dongle running for the past 20 min's, I will take away the dongle and see what happends, also since it been on the dongle a lot of security updates have been installed maybe one of them has fixed the problem
