hi there I have decide to purchase a dreambox but I have a few questions I hope someone wud answer for me.

1. I have a laptop with no null modem connection so can I flash an image by using a null modem to usb cable? or a crossover ethernet cable which I will connect from laptop to dreambox?

2. How do I upload keys? what cable will I use?

3. How will I connect the box to the internet?

all help appreciated

1) Unless you seriously trash the box theres no real need for a null modem cable - Ive run a 7020 for about 3 years and never needed one yet.

2) Via ftp, although theres not much open on keys these days.

3) via lan connection to a broadband router.

If you did need a null modem flash either buy a cheap computer with the requisite connection or you might get away with a usb to serial converter. (these are reported to be somewhat flaky at times!)

You can also get PCI cards with an RS232 serial port on cheaply enough. Though under normal circumstances you should be fine with ethernet.
