It seems that nobody can agree.....

To be perfectly honest I believe that I would like to hear from an installer who is fitting these setups almost every day....like Ian?

On the other hand, I would welcome a standpoint from Ian of Southern Satellites, please as the vendor and supplier.

I also picked up from our friends here that the Hotbird side of the Monoblock should be fixed slightly lower than the Astra focus.... is that correct?..and if so, how much lower? (yes, I can hear someone saying "how long is a piece of string? )

anyway thanks to all subscribers so far, I fear we are not finished with this thread yet.

Yep, the Hotbird LNB goes a bit lower, how low? :- until it works optimally.

I don't do these every day, but I have done about 20 varous mullti LNB setups including monoblocks in the last 6 months, does that count?

Talking of gale force winds, I felt them today, I was on the top of someones house fitting a motorised, staying low helped to stop me getting blown off.

I wanted to finally sort out the monoblock yesterday, so I strapped myself to the ladders at the top of my house wall
and won the V.C. for my bravery.. (and the wrath from my other half!)
However, it was all worth while.
I had good fortune ("fortune favours the brave")
My first time setup got the 13E on the right (as you look at it) and wonders! exactly right! first time! correct position,"a little lower than the 19E LNB." they all said.

The final tweaks, according to what Bigtee said, was to set the receiver ports to A for the Hotbird and B for the Astra.......and that was it,done and dusted.

I now have the Astra channels for all the german in glorious digital, and the Hotbird channels are correctly located under "Hotbird"...got russian, arabic, italian, greek and many others, including the "GOD channel"---now that's got to be the ultimate....
What a result.
My grateful thanks to all concerned.
I may just continue to take all your advice.....

Oh dear!
You have taken my line totally wrongly.
I have not slagged you at all.
why should I?
I have already written some very complimentary words about your help and service in the thread.
I am amazed at your sudden wrath.
Did you have a bad night?

My line asking for your comments was purely as a request for an opinion from an expert like yourself.
Unfortunately, you have now soured the pitch for me.
That's not good.
cheers

Thanks Eddie for clearing up the issue, just that some of the posts come across abrupt, but now know differently

Cheers
Ian

OK
I'll let you off this time

Having been a member of many forums for many years, I know that it is difficult to 'see' the writer's body language.
That's why we should never react before being sure about what we think we read into a comment.

cheers
