I'm thinking of changing my TM 1500CI for a Humax Foxsat HDR to view OR record Freesat in HD on my single incoming aerial.
Alternatively I also want to view other satellites on 13E/19E/and 28E OR record a programme from these sats, again on that single incoming cable. Is this possible as I can't find this referred to anywhere in the forums and up to now I've not needed a PVR so I've no experience of this. 85cm dish/3 dual lnb's. Inners go via a 4into1 diseqc box thru the wall into a pci card on the PC. Outers go thru another 4into1 diseqc and to the TM1500 downstairs. I don't have upstairs and downstairs on both at the same time. |

You'll be able to record from all the satellites mentioned,in non-Freesat mode.
As the Humax Foxsat HDR,has Diseqc capability via the hidden menu,as well as being compatible with a motorised dish. |

Now thats nice to know. Thank You.
For the foreseeable future I want to view OR record Freesat or non Freesat so I dont need the ability to watch one programme and record another. It would be expensive to replace the twin LNB on 28E with a quad LNB and to run a second aerial cable round the house from LNB, bypassing the diseqc, direct to Input 2 on the receiver. However I've read this evening on Join Freesat that I could run a short aerial loop from Input 2 to Output 1 which would give me the option to record one channel whilst watching/recording another, or even recording two channels whilst playing back another - PROVIDED they both have the same polarity. Has anyone experience of this? |

No, but something very similar. Most sat Rx's have a loop out, that can be fed to another Receiver, and as long as the channel you want on the 2nd box has the same polarity AND band as the main one, it can be viewed.
Though was I was last fiddling with a Humax HDR, I was not able to get it to work both sat tuners in non-freeesat mode, just the first one.

Re post 2 from SAT-World
I've now got the Humax Foxsat HDR and am getting used to it. I've scanned in and can view Freesat on 28E and non Freesat FTA on 28E, but have not tried recording yet. I've not been able to scan 13E or 19E There appears to be no procedure in the Humax to trigger the diseqc box to change satellite. SAT-World reported I should be able to receive and record these (from my fixed dish) and one could also do it from a motorised dish. Having now spent the money have I misunderstood? |

Sorry Robbo, I didnt make it clear
I've used the secret menu to scan for Non Freesat channels on 28E which is the Freesat satellite. But I can't see a way to do this on 13E and 19E satellites what procedure should I follow? I've got a fixed 85cm dish, 3 lnb's into a 4into1 diseqc box and one cable to the Humax. (looks like I need to spend more money to replace the dual lnb on 28E with a Quad and have a cable from lnb direct to lnb2 on the Humax to aid with recording, but thats for the future) |

I would do a factory reset and then do a reinstall.
It should then detect the Diseqc, switch, and then save all the satellites. Then carry out a scan of the satellites that are connected to the diseqc switch. You can refer to the screenshots thread, for more information. Or I can post more screenshots if you need further help. |
