Default Iphone 3g Magic sim

My brother purchased an iPhone 3g with the intension of using it where he lives ( Alderney in the channel islands ) using his Guernsey Sim card.

When he came home for a visit last week and asked me to jailbreak it for him and install yellow snow. When he got it firmware 3.1 had been installed.

Jail breaking it was not a problem , only to find out his baseband had been upgraded during 3.1 and it has a 5.9 boot-loader meaning no baseband downgrades at present and is locked to o2.

I would like to know if these turbo sims or equivalent work in an iPhone , i have read they can be unstable so am asking if anyone as any personal experience with these especially in an iPhone if poss.

Any suggestions welcomed

Thanks in advance

I have tried both the gevey and another so called turbo sim, both genuine. To be honest i found them to be a complete waste of time & money. Very occasionally, I was able to briefly detect my carrier, t-mobile uk, but usually for seconds only. I was lucky at the time the bb downgrade was released my then iphone has the older bootloader. Maybe others will tell you differently, but I tried 2 different turbosims in 2 different iphones (one is my current iphone thankfully ultrasn0wed), and NONE of them were usable in any way.

Advise appreciated mate , i have taken the gamble and purchased 1 for him on the off chance. Seller quoted a money back guarantee so i will try and see if it works but can only test on orange as Guernsey telecom has no reception here.

Any more input would be appreciated

During the 3.1 upgrade the baseband was upgraded , Having a 5.9 boot-loader there is no fix yet , so fuzzyband and the likes are useless.

Thanx anyways
