Default what is the difference? i really need some help please guys

hello everyone, could you please tell me what the difference is between the ambit 255 and ambit 256, i have 2 ambit modems here and they both have 256 on the back but when i open them up they are different on the boards. for example one of them have a 5 pin header next the the chip. does this make a difference to what i need to do with it?
any help or comments would really be appreciated

thanks everyone

well the ambit 256 doesnt have a 5pin header.

although an ambit 255 does and can be flashed via max 232.

the ambit 256 requires you to swap the spi chip over for one thats pre installed with haxorware on it.

yes that's correct, here the inside of an ambit 255

the ambit 256 doesn't have that.

heres the ambit 256, notice the 5 pin header next to the little 8 legged spi chip with the red dot on it.

If i'm not mistaken, the Ambit 256 is DOCSIS 3 (50MB) compatible whereas the Ambit 255 (same as the 250) isn't. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.
