Default V+hd box

Hi

Hope someone can give me some advice, just had a new V+HD box fitted great picture quality especialy on HD. I had a dbox fitted before with a splitter to the old box in kids bedroom which I had to hide when the bloke came to fit the new box, I've now got the new box under the TV and want to put the dbox under as well it says on the guide never to disconnect the new box.
If i disconnect the new box and put in a splitter will that affect the quality or anything else from the new box. Hope this makes sence.
