Default Eurovox EX7000 HD Problem

Hi all, i've just brought one of these boxes. When I turn it on, all I get is "Now Booting..." on the LCD. It usually stays on for a few seconds, then goes off. I haven't got anything on the screen at all, tried both HDMI and scart. Sometimes the LCD stays on "now booting" but most of the time it just stays like it for a few seconds.

There is power still going through the box as my USB drive is still powered up.

Any idea's? I'm currently trying to flash with STB manager and a null modem cable but not getting much luck. I'm just getting Waiting all the time...

This has how its been since I got it out the box

Yes I brought the box from a computer market last night. It was just meant to be FTA out the box and needed flashing to get all the channels.

When I got home I set the box up to the TV via HDMI. Turned the box on. "Now Booting..." appeared on the LCD then went off after about 5 seconds. It looked like the box had turned off. There was nothing at all on the TV, there was no signal coming from the box at all. I couldn't get into any menu as it seemed like the box had no power.

After trying numerous times it just did the same. I thought the HDMI port may have been faulty so I tried setting it up via scart and was getting exactly the same thing. "No Booting..." for about 5 seconds on the box and nothing at all on the TV, it was like there was no output coming from the box.

I then thought it may need flashing. So i downloaded the latest firmware to my USB drive. Followed the instructions to change the firmware and it just did exactly the same thing.

It appears the box turns off after 5 seconds. But there is still power there as the USB drive light stays lit all the time.

After reading a few posts a couple of other people have had the same problem, and people are saying it may be due to the bootloader being corrupt. They recommend trying to flash with STB Manager via a Null modem cable. I have tried doing so but I havent got anywhere with that either.

Hope this makes sense? lol

Seems to me that you may have a faulty box there Dannyboy, i assume that at least you should have had the menu screen weather you had software on it or not as it should be ready for FTA, you may get another member giving you a better answer than mine as I'm not accustom to the Eurovox EX7000..jay

Well I''ve owned the EX7000 for a few weeks now and its always worked.

You may have a dud box if you do not see the intro screen when you turn it on. It normally appears for a few seconds before its fully booted. If you aren't getting this screen then something is seriously wrong.

Try taking out the USB key too, as this could be stopping the booting too. try reformatting the USB key and downloading the last golden release of the firmware (March 2009 i think). Then turn it off using the switch on the back, then wait a second, turn it back on and cross your fingers.

If this doesn't work, take it back to the market man!

Try pressing and holding the menu button on the box when you power it up. If that gives you the menu, then do a factory reset.

Let us know if it works

Thanks very much for your replies guys. I've tried holding the menu button down while powering up and the same thing happens. Well almost. "no booting..." appears on the LCD, goes off after about 5 seconds, then "now booting..." appears again shortly after. Again nothing on the TV either via HDMI or Scart

might have had a bad flash, try re-flashing with a USB pen drive, try the 1st FTA flash 1st, then if ok, update to latest FW. download flash from bigmaq toolbar, rename to flash.tbn, copy to root of pre-formatted pen drive. put pen drive into back of xe7000, power on, should auto update flash

Where would I get the FTA flash file from? Is it just the first one on the bigmaq toolbar? (08.01.2009)? Thanks again

I managed to find the FTA file after looking some more. But still no luck. Put it on 2 USB pens now (1 formatted to NTFS and another to FAT) but same thing. "Now booting..." and thats it.

I tried the FTA file in STB Manager to flash via a Null Modem Cable. I could get a bit further this time. I sometimes get "receiver detected" or something similar but thats it. Nothing else.
