I've just set up my first HTPC. I've Installed MP v1.1 Beta and Streamed MP.
I have a TT 1501-c Cable tuner card installed. When I set up TV server and scanned the channels, they all appeared and I could view the terestrial channels ok. If a little jerky at times. While playing about trying to get the channel epg working, I appear to have screwed something up. My TV no longer appears in the menu on MP. Why would this be?? In the first part of the TV Server configuration screen, how should the card be set up with regards no of cams etc?? Please help |

In TV server config set the Cam to 1, also tick the box that says enable EPG grabbing for this card.
Then in the EPG tab you need to choose which channels you want grab EPG for. Then wait, you can look in manual control to see what the card is doing it should say grabbing EPG You will only get about 36 hours worth. If you want more you need to go thru web EPG or use XMLTV. There is a good guide for XMLTV on here. Sorry I am non specific, I cannot get on a TV server now to be more so. |

Can someone please help me set up this TV Server stuff!!
I've followed the instructions, as far as I can tell. When I install the server the FTA channels work ok. I then try and install the MDAPI filter and I think this is where it starts going wrong. When I run the Installfilter (as administrator) the command line screen flashes on and off and it doesn't create the .ax file. If I dont run as admin, the command line steps through the .bat file but fails at every step with access denied. If I then try and watch a FTA program I get cannot create a graph and no channels are visible. :-( I'm slowly pulling my hair out. At the moment I'm on Vista Home Premium SP1 and running MP 1.1 beta with no added skins. This is a fresh install today. I've tried 2 different MDAPI versions but both do the same. Please tell me what I am doing wrong, I'm sure it must be something simple.

When you install MDAPI is it the summer 2009 release, where did you get it ? You do not mention x86 or x64. It will not install natively out of the box on x64.
Also MDAPI will do nothing without vlpug, you have no mention of decryption, How far does it get, does it copy the dll files to the TVserver folder and create the MDPLUGINS folder off that. |

Hi Ugg
Been reading the DVBN forums today and it may be a vista issue thats stopping it all installing properly. Not had chance to play today, only just in from work. Will clear out MP completely and start again. Its Vista 32bit. I believe its a 2008 MDAPI and using Vplug 2.42. It all goes tits up when I insall the Vplug. But it looks like its because MDAPI is not installing correctly. Vista security issues I believe now. Will report back once I've re-installed. One thing I still dont know. When you tick the box to enable the CAM there is a box that asks if you want the card preloading. Does this box need ticking? Thanks for getting back to me. |

Do not worry about card pre loading in your senario. As for vista turn off UAC and be logged in as admin and it should work. If you still have issues take a look on DVBN at installing MDAPI manually under the x64 thread it will tell you step by step what is required.
All it is is copying the files and registering some DLL's its pretty simple if you get them in the right place. Once you get MDAPI installed and view a green channel it will make a folder for your TT1501. After this you need to edit the mdapicards.xml file to change the naming convention for TT card so it has no illegal characters and install vplug in the new folder that ends it 01. |

Ugg - Thanks for the help
Followed the guide on DVBN after turning off UAC and all is good. ![]() Managed to get all channels showing OK. Both FTA and encrypted. Still need to hook up to TV instead of monitor and prove audio through HMDI and SPDIF. What I couldn't get to work is the aspec ratio. It just stays in a letter box format no matter what I choose. Normal, stretch, original. Am I doing something wrong? I haven't installed any additional codecs yet, just the ones that come with MP. I know I need others for Bluray etc, but do I need anything else to sort out my aspect ratio? |

You can set the default zoom in MP config for specifically TV, Video and DVD. The Blue button on a MCE remote changes the aspect ratio while its running.
You will need a better codec package NVIDIA is the best for SD and Cyberlink for HD. Playing with codecs is a lot of trial and error but better codecs will pull the aspect ratio out of the stream. There is also a screen setup in the MP application although with an LCD monitor it should be fine. Its more for overscan on a big TV |
