Connecting PC to a macbook

hi peeps
can i hook up a pc and a macbook using a crossover cable to transfer files?
if so........how lol

I don't think you can. I got myself a cheap switch from ebay. Connected network cables from the mac and pc to it. Created a shared folder on the pc and got the mac to pick up and drop files there.
