Default firmware

i had my xbox360 flashed it has an hitachi dvd drive but when i put a copied game in it will not let me update, when it says update it says the disc is unreadable yet it plays in my son box flashed with the same firmware.
ps if i take the hard drive off the game plays but no ware to save to has anyone had this problem , if so please could you help

Take out the HDD and try again.

Drive will be on the way out, Hitachi's were the worst drive bar none I did a m8s the other day had a bust liteon in it, I had an old hitachi drive kicking around so spoofed it and modded the drive worked ok with originals but would not have anything to with backups

sorted it, i borrowed an orginal fifa 10 did the update and all my backups play fine
ps: all my games have been patched with .Wave.3.Patcher so maybe it takes the update off as well

That's a REALLY REALLY bad idea if you play on live
