Default VM talkback question

Ok my starview3 died the other day after a years use, one thing i never read back then when i got the box, was that people were leaving their virgin boxes connected and took a split from the vm box to the new receiver.

I never did this i didn't do enough research i guess. i plan on reconnecting my vm box tommorow when i receive my dw800, so my question is can i just leave the vm box on standby, will this be enough to enable the talkback to vm??

I do subscribe to large tv anyway i guess they might be getting suspisious by now not having heard from box in a year!!

Cheers

i dont think it will matter too much as long as your paying they aren't going to question you. people leave their box connected so they take the updates if the keys roll or new firmware is available.

just hope when u connect it up it automatically updates the smart card. otherwise its a call to vm themselves to sort it.

You should keep your subbed box connected as it looks a little strange to be paying for the large package and not using it.

I know that's my concern, but i have a good explanation for it not being connected :¬)

Will the vm box be ok just on standby or should it be powered up fully to talkback do you think?

Standby is fine as long as its connected to the feed

Just stick behind your tv out of sight

I'm just in the process of reconnecting my vm box, i have bought a 2 way splitter like this one: http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/...-5-1000mhz.jpg

Is it ok to just replace the vm one as it is just a single connection with my 2 way one?

my replacement is the same 5-1000mhz, i guess vm wouldn't like me messing but i will replace if they ever need to come out...

Cheers

where are you placing it?

do u have 2 different cables to 2 different rooms.

or is the second box in the same room as the virmin 1?

cant you just split the connection from the white box inside your house?

that way it would be easier to remove if an engineer came round.

I have one cable downstairs for tv and one upstairs for bb, i am opening the tv white box downstairs and replacing their single connector with my 2 way splitter.

I just wanted to make sure their connector block was ok to replace with mine.

I just reconnected my vm box after nearly a year and i couldn't get any channels but normal tv, so i had to call vm.

she asked how long i'd had the problem and was i sure i was using a standard box

my channels are back as normal now, but maybe i'll get a visit from the vermin squad

If this happens again just leave it on stream it may take a week before the channels reappear but they WILL come back.
I think its to do with your tiers on the card being out of date, think they renew these once a month so you might be lucky and they might appear the next day or maybe a week...but they will always come back
Better option than phoning vermin
