For everyone who has accidentally updated to 3.1.2 firmware there is a jailbreak known as Blackra1n ( google it ).

Take approx 30 secs to jailbreak and is tested on most models including ipod touch 1st & 2nd Gen. But will not unlock carrier settings so is mostly suitable for O2 and ipod touch users.

I myself have used this Jailbreak on my iphone 3g with great success

Jailbreaking allows the installation of third party apps and cracked games etc.. If you have an older firmware and rely on it to use a different Sim like T-Mobile etc always use custom firmware which will not affect your baseband.

The popular iphone hacker Geohot has finally released the much awaited blackra1n RC3 with blacksn0w which unlocks both iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS running on iPhone 3.1.2 firmware with 05.11.07 baseband (aka modem firmware). This latest version of blackra1n includes unlock and jailbreak for 3.1.2 firmware on 05.11.07 baseband, option for enabling native Internet Tethering on the iPhone.

The only problem is, everytime the phone reboots or gets turned off and on, it goes into recovery mood and needs to be ra1ned again or restored via itunes.

Or at least, thats the case with the 3GS, anyone succesfully done the 3.1.2 on redsnow?
