Wordpress Entries (RSS) feed - Techwatch: Satellite TV forums, FTA, Cable, Hardware, & Tech forums

In the footer of Wordpress I see a link with anchor text "Entries (RSS)" and it's link has a peculiar format: feed:http://... What is the purpose of this exactly please? Why is there a "feed:" before this link?

if you have a news reader client for example abilon news reader, once you click on a link with feed it automatically add that link to your newsreader client so you can read without the html layouts but only all text.
