Default Forgive me for being thick.....

Hi

I don't understand why everyone is in a panic over Vermin changing over to the new encryption like they have in Ireland.

I thought there was new firmware and the KV and Starbox 4 now worked over there. Am I missing something?

Hate to disappoint you but they don't work over here.

from what i gather a fix for n3 is a long way off.thats what sky have got and hasn't been cracked so far.we can just be thankful that virmin are skint and haven't got the finances(fingers crossed as far as we know) to implement it so make hay while the sun shines(well, while its cold, dark n miserable)ha ha.

Sky uses NDS. Both owned by uncle rupert.

So Chorus/NTL in Ireland is a different company?

Still slightly confused.

From what I can gather looking around, the UK is on nagravision 1, but I read loads of stuff about the KV being one of the two boxes which had new firmware which worked in Ireland, but apparently it doesn't now.

So did Ireland go to nagra2 before upgrading to nagra3, or are some parts using n2 and others n3? I've looked around the forum but couldn't understand what was going on.

When I was looking for a box the KV seemed the best bet based on Ireland's experience but the situation seems to have changed.

Chorus/NTL are owned by UPC in Germany. VM bought NTL/Chorus/TW in the UK, so VM over here can do what they like tbh. Ireland did go to n2 before n3, but all 2009 receivers(well of course the kryptviews and linux receivers) are able to combat n2, but not n3

Of course, when we move to n2 or problems start occurring as they have in Leeds, I would say SELL YOUR RECEIVER ON EBAY As there'll be people out there wanting to buy a Eurovox, Starview etc... If you have a Dreambox, Id advise you to keep it or change it for a DM 500S and I cant tell you any more info, as its against the rules of these forums Google cardsharing
