The stab motor spec says 13/18 volts.
my 500s power supply says 12v at 2A. So where is it getting the extra 6 volts to run the LNB from. Is it something to do with the current too.

Yes, you can increase the voltage on a circuit with a proportional drop in current. See here Ohm's law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
