Anyone still running these Operating systems? I thought I heard that MS support will be ending in a couple months. Is this correct and what does it mean exactly? Will there be no more security updates?

they are ending support, the main reason is probely the windows vista project. No i am not, but most of the problems with it can be found by hardware talk forums and software talk forums such as this one.

Seriously, Kirby, Windows 95? Don't you at least use Windows 98? I run Windows XP but my mom has 98 installed in her office computer. Probably because it is a lot more stable and programs run faster with 98 than XP. We have never really cared for support from Microsoft. A lot of other people offer that.

I'm on Windows XP and while I figured I'd have loads of problems, I have to admit that with the automatic updates, I've not had one (knock on wood) Windows issues in a couple of years. But I have learned to be pretty religious about patches, etc. too.

I loved Windows 98 and was very hesitant to move to XP - but at the end of the day, XP is simply a much more stable system, and I'm glad I moved in the end.
Probably wouldn't recommend an upgrade, as much as a new PC. ![]() And indeed, Win 98 support ended last month: http://www.platinax.co.uk/news/13-07...ye-windows-98/ |

Ok not that it matters to my current system, since I run off of XP. But it is nice to know since I have some old computers sitting in my closest(been to lazy to repair and fix them). I need to upgrade all the systems on those hard drives now to a XP version. Glad that brian said it ended as of last month.

Until in 2004, I was running for Windows 98. I really hated when it always say " illegal operation you would be shutdown" or something like that. Since XP, I like using it and not looked back.
