Default Starview 1 died on me today, in need of advice on new box

Hi all,

My Starview 1 box has died on me today, seems like the power supply as there are no lights or anything.

So, im after a new box, however im a bit out of touch in what is the best box at the moment. What is best? Eurovox, Starview, Kryptview etc.

All genuine recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anybody knows where to geta genuine box and a good geal, that would be great too.

Thanks Karl.

Hi Karl

Ive not tried any other boxes but do like the Kryptview 750. It's amazing what it does for such a small box. I'm told the resolution is better than other non HD boxes. It does a power search when switched off (so you need to leave it on a premium channel like S*y Sports 1) and so far has never stopped on me.

My only complaints are that its not terribly easy to navigate through the programmes and the EPG is a bit clunky. Also the remote can be slow to react.

That said I think it's an excellent box and does the job well, I'm pleased with mine.

I bought mine through Lincsat who's a member of the forum and gives a discount to forum members. Although it was possible to buy it slightly cheaper I'd looked around on the forum and he came highly recommended, considering some reputable companies appear to now be selling clones I felt he was a safer option. It came ready to go straight out of the box so I haven't even had to connect it to my PC.

Hope this helps.

Kryptview A750 wins hands down mate, unless your looking to spend more and get an HD box!

Sounds like a simple fix for your Starview, jtag it, yes a capacitor needs replacing on power supply but a simple soldering job of two wires.
Use a jtag such as this
Code:
http://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbay&gbh=1
and your Starview shopuld be working again.
The Kryptview is a nice box, but have a go at your old one first if you want to save a few bob.
