Question Lcd v led

Hi all, I have been planning to buy a new HD TV, I have been looking at several models, but I was in a store yesterday looking at the new Samsung 46" LED.
I am just not sure if its worth the extra few hundred quid or not, I want to future proof as far as possible, but obviously I could get a decent home cinema kit with a LCD for the same price nearly.
Has anyone any views on wether it would be a better investment to go for the LED????

Firstly Any new electronics are never going to be a good investment.
Having seen the Samsung 40" a afew times now up close I have been impressed with the quality of picture. I personally have never been a fan of LCD, I much prefer Plasma.
I suppose it all boils down to the fact that you will have to look at the picture. Will you be satisfied with the LCD picture quality. If you are then go for LCD.

Thanks guys for the input.
I am almost certainly now going to go for a Sony 46" LCD, I cant see "much" difference between it and the LED Samsung!

I recently just bought a 32" LCD and was chatting to the comet salesmen about the LED's (just chat as I was waiting on them getting my TV from the store room)

Even he said the price will fall off them big time 18mths or so down the line.

Must admit, they look stunning mind you

LED is the future and obviously in time the prices will come down a lot. I think when you trade in old TV's, its not really an eco cashback-as in they dont use the parts for repairs/recycling etc... but sell them off to developing countries.

The samsung OLED that I saw in PC world looks bee you tee full

LED is much more superior and efficient that standard lcd,
If you want to future proof yourself then get an led.

Thumbs up Re: Lcd v led

In 2007 I bought a Samsung 37" LED HDTV and have not regretted that purchase. In fact, I was that impressed with it I bought another Samsung LED HDTV for the bedroom (series 4) last year.
