Default Explore the Universe

Hi all,

Hands up anyone who has wasted an entire day exploring the world on Google Earth or Nasa World Wind? Wouldnt it be great to go one step further and explore the universe, track Halleys commet, speed up or reverse time, Visit other galaxies, or fly through borg cities.

well with these open source tools you can.

Download the base installation from here
http://www.shatters.net/celestia/

and custom addons are available here.
http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/

I had to uninstall it from my PC at work as i got nothing done for weeks.

Happy time wasting

Something similar - Stellarium

"Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.
It is being used in planetarium projectors - Just set your coordinates and go"
Must admit, I haven't used it, but have heard good reports about it

Comes up in a Google search - I can't post links yet.

I have done the Google Earth quite a bit. Did not know about the others. I will have to check them out. They sound interesting. Thanks for the links.

Great. Now I can explore my inner dorkiness in even more detail! I have always been fascinated by the makings of the universe...I could see those programs becoming great time wasters for me.
