Got a Vectra '97 X20XEV with codes in the memory. I tried to read them with tech2 and a vagcom interface which is supposed to work only if the vehicle uses pin 7 as the k line. It didnt work but I have never tested the gear before so I was already a bit sceptical as to whether it would work. This particular model has pin 6 connected so I flash coded it as per instrucions in autodata and it generated eobd p codes. The 2 codes that came out were P0325 - knock sensor and P0560 - voltage malfunction. The codes have only occured since the battery went flat and was jump started. the charging is all ok and I recently put a new reg in the alternator so I think it is just a glitch. Trouble is you need diagnostic equipment to clear the codes. Realising that it is the 16 pin eobd plug, and the codes are eobd P codes I tried to connect mobydic to see if that would clear the codes, but it wouldnt connect. Should the mobydic talk to it or am I just being optomistic?

Hi, is the MIL on all the time??
dont think you will comm with obd, but one thing to check is your earths, pin 4 and 5, some times you have to loop your pin 4(ground) and pin 5 (signal ground) on the interface as some cars use 4 and some use 5, its a long shot but have seen it before. you could try an nock up that interface in the electronics section and give that a go, wont take long ![]() |

Just a quick one, if you are trying to use tech2 with vag-com interface (I do this) there is a way of communicating with the modules that use different pins.
There is an easy way of doing it: first way is if you have a lead like this one (which has power from fag lighter, K-Line and L-Line) http://www.one-stop-factory.com/pdet...urrentpid=4991 (or an OBD socket that will plug into the interface) then all you have to do is run a wire from pin 7 (K Line) to which ever pin you need on the car (e.g pin 12 for ABS etc) then connect 15 to 15 (L Line) 4 to 4 and 5 to 5 for ground then 16 to (guess....) 16 for power! works like a charm everytime!! Hope this helps someone, someday Regards DB |
