tbh, its not really VM's fault. The CAM code is a plugin library module supplied by Kudelski to the various stb manufacturers. Its doubtful VM has access to this source code. Kudelski could (should) of made a better job of things though.

I think N1 is compromised to the point where that would of produced only transient results whilst "fixes" were put in place by the hackers. Funcards/ATMega's etc could of been taken out easily enough but things like Mosc's, OPUS, Tits etc could of coped with pretty much anything. Mosc's especially could easily be programmed to look and even act real. Its not too difficult to clone a real sub to a mosc card, even without access to the target sub card.

The real reason for the move away from N1 though is simply because Kudelski are dropping support for it. This means providers basically have no choice in the matter. Remember that VM (or any other provider) dont really buy an encryption system but contract it out. Kudelski effectively completely manage VM's encryption system.

Yeah i see what you're saying, why lease a broken system is as far as VM see.

With the MOSCS i was getting at new ROM rev with *** write, and STB FW that tests the *** region vals depending on reported ROM rev. CAM gets shut down after repeated update EMM's but no update. Don't think 'blockered' images would get on too well with that. But yeah there'll always be new blocker code..just depends how often they do it.

Interaction between card ROM rev and STB FW really. If VM have no access to the CAM interface then that would explan a lot.

But anyways, VM are doing what they're doing. Funcards can be fixed to AU again and they're bound to run N1 and 3 in parallel for quite a long time so all good.

use a MOSC ! , funcards when they go off i think they might stay off until crackers come up with a solution ! read the funcard and get ya details then make a MOSC - Modified Original Smart Card for you guys that don't know cheers anton.
